Phil Hampton 2011

Photo from May's 'Leisure Ride' returning to Alton via the lovely track through Chawton Wood.
These regular slow-paced rides are planned to cater for those who are new to cycling, returners, families, and those who are concerned about keeping up with other riders. See the story below for more detail and dates.Photo by Janice.

We are happy to post pictures from our members so, if you have any pictures you'd like to share – and a short story too, if you wish, please send them in to the webmaster – Front page pictures should be inspirational, interesting or both (more than just a bunch of grinning cyclists with fly spattered teeth please!)

Welcome

CTC  North Hampshire is divided into three groups:
• Alton
• Fleet
• Farnborough

Regular rides start from Petersfield too and there is also an active off-road element with organised rides in and beyond the district.

We organise rides and other events to suit all abilities of cyclist, both on and off road. Visitors and non-members are welcome – it costs nothing to join the majority of our rides but regular riders are expected to be members of the CTC.

You can join the CTC online.

For further information about CTC North Hampshire please contact Andrew Watson.

Publicity

To publicise CTC North Hampshire and our events, we have produced a couple of posters to be used locally. There is a general information poster and a blank that can be added to, either on a PC and printed, or by hand after printing.

General Information

Blank

As we are a group spread across North Hampshire it is often difficult to get to hear about local matters affecting us as cyclists. So if you've some news in your area that might be of interest to others further afield, please pass details on and we'll put it up on this site. email

In and around CTC North Hampshire (and beyond)

Diana and Ray had intended to be leaders on the new once-a-month Alton Easy Ride which is on Sat 17th August, leaving the Community Centre at 1.30pm, calling in at Finnimore Pavilion in Anstey Park, then cycling on to Four Marks golf course for tea, before making our way back to Alton.  We have now been invited to a Birthday Party,  which we would not like to miss, at the same time.  Is there a possibility of someone swapping dates with us, or alternatively lead this one?  We will happily then lead the September Easy ride instead.  Please email us.

Thanks,
Diana

If you want to go but haven't yet been in touch with Frank, please email or get in touch. You will need to make your own arrangements for accommodation, but there is a campsite plus a selection of self-catering, B&Bs and hotels in the area.  Frank has a list of accommodation he will send out to anyone interested. June’s leisurely bike ride is on this Saturday afternoon!

This summer Alton CTC is running a programme of easy-paced, led bike rides on the third Saturday of every month, and the next one will be on 15th June, calling in at Lasham Gliding Club for tea.

All rides will leave from Alton Community Centre at 1.30pm and stop by the Finnimore Pavilion, Anstey Park, at 1.45pm.  You can join us at either meeting place.

No need to book – just turn up! All participants should be able to ride a bike competently and be able to undertake a short sociable ride of
10 - 15 miles, which will include a tea stop.  Please carry a puncture repair kit and a spare inner tube.

Butser or bust: Even the alley-cat riders of New York would probably not want to risk their lives on a section of the A3 dual carriageway in Hampshire: it has no cycle provision, despite being an important route across the South Downs. CTC Portsmouth, led by campaigners Robert Sebley and Mike Ashton, has tried to get this vital link improved for ten years. Now they are asking CTC members to sign a petition to pile on the political pressure.
