Welcome

The North Hampshire District Association of the CTC is divided into three sections:
• Alton
• Fleet
• Farnborough

Regular rides start from Petersfield too and there is also an active off-road element with organised rides in and beyond the district.

We organise rides and other events to suit all abilities of cyclist, both on and off road. Visitors and non-members are welcome –
it costs nothing to join the majority of our rides but regular riders are expected to be members of the CTC.

You can join the CTC online.

For further information about North Hampshire CTC please contact Andrew Heaton.

Publicity

To publicise CTC North Hants and our events, we have produced a couple of posters to be used locally. There is a general information poster and a blank that can be added to, either on a PC and printed, or by hand after printing.

General Information

Blank

As we are a group spread across North Hampshire it is often difficult to get to hear about local matters affecting us as cyclists. So if you've some news in your area that might be of interest to others further afield, please pass details on and we'll put it up on this site. email

CTC North Hants BBQ
30th August at Newton Valence –
All CTC North Hampshire members and their families are welcome and in the morning there will be a ride up to Newton Valence village hall from Alton – see Alton Section August rides.

There's one remaining Fete Ride that the Alton Section has organised a series of rides throughout July specially for families and cyclists who wish to take a more 'leisurely' ride. Each ride will be to a local fete so there'll be plenty of opportunities for other activities in addition to cycling!

The details are:
Sat 26 July - ride to Binsted fete.

The ride leaves from Alton Community Centre at 1.30 pm, and will be no more than 15 miles in total.  All are suitable for families and beginners, a nice easy pace!

Click on The 'Alton' tab under Section Rides in the navigation bar to the left to see details of these rides and more.

Peter Martin is organising our highly enjoyable August Bank Holiday ride from Petersfield to the Flowerpots PH at Cheriton (near Winchester) again this year.
This is a great chance for family fun and everyone is welcome.  Starting at 10:30 from outside Waitrose, we cycle (slowly) to and from the annual beer festival, which has live music and good food.  Expect to be back in Petersfield by about 5:00, or perhaps you could meet some of your non-cycling family there and get a lift back…. it’s up to you.

A while ago I sounded out the idea of a 200 mile day ride based on a circular return route to Shaftesbury, Dorset.  A couple of people have since asked if I had progressed the idea.  So here I am, circulating this message to gauge interest.  I have previously done the ride over two days and can guarantee quiet roads and wonderful countryside.

On a date to be fixed in July or August, the ride would leave Alton about 0700hrs, with a target return time of 1900hrs.  I do not know the exact milage, but it would be about 190miles.  The route is Alton-Winchester-Kings Somborne-West Dean-Old Sarum-Wylye Valley-Shaftesbury-Cranbourne Chase-Fordingbridge-Downton-Mottisfont-Kings Somborne-Winchester-Alton.
Dan has even offered to attempt Gold Hill (of Hovis advert fame, near vertical and cobbled) !

Dan and Anthony are interested, and I think a minimum of four will be needed to keep things pleasurable.  Rest assured, there would be regular feed/drink stops.

Any serious takers who will consider commiting to ride, please e-mail me direct

September Cycling Weekend –
New Forest

CTC North Hampshire is planning to hold an
informal cycling weekend in the New Forest.
Details here.

WANTED
I am looking for a second hand small framed road bike to upgrade a ten year old grandson from his MTB. He is quite tall for his age and a good rider, and perhaps a 'proper' bike will encourage him even further. Dropped bars not essential, but 26" narrow tyres are, and preferably with a carrrier of some kind.
If you have something that may fit the bill, please email me, David Moseley
